What is an accelerometer?

An accelerometer is a sensor that measures the vibration, or acceleration of motion of a structure. The force caused by vibration or a change in motion (acceleration) causes the mass to "squeeze" the piezoelectric material which produces an electrical charge that is proportional to the force exerted upon it. Since the charge is proportional to the force, and the mass is a constant, then the charge is also proportional to the acceleration.

What is an accelerometer used for?

Accelerometer is a sensor to measure the acceleration, it can be used for many industries from drilling to handheld devices. For example, in navigation system, accelerometer can provide information about the acceleration of ships, and airplane; In small handheld devices, accelerometer can measure the direction; In drilling industry, high-temperature-accelerometer can be used for down hole measurement-while drilling and wireline logging applications.

What is a high temperature accelerometer?

High temperature accelerometer is a single-axis torque reaction type accelerometer to detect the external acceleration signal by detecting quality and then demodulated and amplified by the servo circuit, finally output current signal proportional to the acceleration signal. It is designed to provide accurate information in harsh environment. It can be widely used for high accuracy navigation system of oil drilling inclinometer and geological exploration system, etc.

For example, ZITN produces the quartz flexible high temperature accelerometers (HQA-T 135, 160, and 185 series) for down hole measurement-while-drilling and wireline applications. Same with the J series of accelerometers, HQA-T series products also can provide excellent bias, scale factor and axis alignment stability.

How to use a high temperature accelerometer in MWD Systems?

High temperature quartz flex accelerometer can be used for the oil& gas industries to provide the acceleration data in real time. Besides, it has many features including small volume, high vibration and shock resistance, low power consumption and analogue signal output, etc. So it can be used in harsh environment like measurement while drilling (MWD) system.

Since our establishment in 2002, we at ZITN, under the core value of “integrity, focused, innovative, and win-win”, have successfully developed and globally expanded our core business areas of integrated circuit electronics and inertial sensors. In ZITN, the integrated circuit inside of the accelerometers are self-developed. ZITN has a long history in integrated circuits and accelerometers manufacturing.
